Course Overview

Welcome to Megamind: Online Class Edition, by The Wiseman Institute.

I'll be your instructor, Brett Bergen, and I'm excited to have you join us for this training. If you ever found online classes stressful, or you want to learn how to ace your online classes, you are in the right place.

Please review how the course works, below, so you are able to move smoothly through the course.

You will be quizzed on it next and must get all questions correct in order to progress to the first Training. This is to teach the first lesson of online courses: always read instructions before beginning.

How It Works

1) This course is made up of seven (7) Trainings, plus a final Course Summary Training. This is how they work:

  • Each Training has a primary skill theme, such as "note-taking" or "exam strategies".
  • Each Training is divided into Lessons.
  • Lessons include video, and may include a quiz, exercise, and/or other content.

2) All Lesson videos are pre-recorded, and you can take them on your own pace.

  • Each video averages between 1.5 and 6.5 minutes. Although short, videos move at a fast pace, so it is easy to miss important information unless you give your full attention.
  • There are 5-8 Lessons/videos per Training. The total length of all videos in a Training is typically between 20 and 35 minutes.
  • Quizzes should take no more than several minutes to complete (and you must score 100% to pass - more details below), but the length of exercises highly depends on how much effort you the student decide to put in to them.
  • To ask your instructor a question, simply select "Contact" under your profile icon to write a message (more details below).

3) You have access to all Trainings at the time of enrollment, but they must be completed in order. The Lessons within each Training must also be completed in order. This is because many lectures, as well as trainings, build upon each other.

4) Each Lesson is more than just a video. You will also have an opportunity to check your knowledge in the form of a quiz or exercise, which must be completed before the next lecture (or training) can be taken.

  • To mark a Lesson with a quiz complete, you need to score a 100% on the quiz. You can re-take the quiz up to 99 times until you score 100%. Once you do, you can continue to the next Lesson. (If you really need 100+ attempts, Contact the instructor for assistance).
  • To mark a Lesson with an exercise complete, you need to take the "quiz" that asks you if you have completed the exercise. By selecting "yes" and submitting your answer, you will have completed the Lesson and can continue.

This means you can choose to watch some, all, or none of the Lesson videos if you feel you already possess the knowledge and skills being presented - or it isn't relevant for you. You simply have to complete the quiz or mark the exercise as complete to "test out" of the Lesson.

5) Earning certificates:

  • Individual Training Certificates: Once you have successfully completed all quizzes and/or exercises in a Training , you will be able to access the Completion Certificate for that Training, and continue to the next Training.
  • Megamind Course Certificate: On day 35 of the course, a new section at the bottom of the course will appear called "Certificate of Completion Instructions". Once this section becomes visible, AND you have successfully completed ALL quizzes/exercises in the course, this section will be accessible. Simply follow the instructions to generate your Official Record of Completion (Unique ID to prove completion) and printable Official Certificate of Completion to celebrate your achievement.

6. Contacting the Instructor for Questions or Help

  • If you ever need help with a forgotten password or user ID, you do one of two things: either (a) go to your original email with course log in information, and follow instructions from there, or (b) go to https://access.wisemaninstitute.com and select Login, then click the "Forgot Password?" link.
  • Your questions matter to me and I will do my best to give you the help you need. Questions directly related to the course will be answered on a first-come, first-served basis. This might sometimes be within an hour, or within a week, depending on the number and complexity of questions.
  • To ask me a question or make a suggestion, simply select "Contact" under your profile icon to write and send a message.

Note that the method of how questions are asked and/or answered may change in the future. For instance, I may launch a helpdesk where students can search for commonly asked/answered questions, and ask me any questions not yet answered on the site.

7. Joining the Alumni Community:

Instructions to access and join the private community of Wiseman Alumni will be available on approximately the 35th day after enrollment.

Okay, orientation is complete, and you are ready to rock and roll!

Next, complete the quiz below, and once you pass, click "Complete and continue" at the top of your screen to go to the first lecture.
